Hi there! I am a fabric lover and hence my love of turning scrumptious fabrics into wonderful Curtains and Blinds with my Designer About Town business. Fortnightly I will showcase a fabulous fabric house and share my love of all things fabric..

Today’s Fabulous fabric feature is Sarah Drayton textiles.. I came across Sarah’s wonderful designs via Instagram and fell in love with these fabrics from the moment I saw them.  Sarah is a former graphic designer with a passion for interiors and more specifically, soft furnishing textiles. Sarah says “I’ve been collecting fabrics for as long as I can remember, but it never occurred to me to make it my career until about 11 years into my life as a graphic designer.

It suddenly dawned on me to combine my design skills with my passion for fabric, patterns and colour and become a textile designer. A lightbulb moment to say the least!

And so here we are…..

My dream is that my fabrics will make their way into peoples homes across the globe and that the joy I feel creating these colourful and fresh patterns becomes the joy that is created in your home – making it ‘your happy place’.” https://sarahdrayton.com.au/

I certainly love the fresh printed patterns all designed and printed in Australia. I’m a huge fan of Australian made as my Designer About Town curtains and blinds are custom made locally on the central coast. Sarah has recently launched a new fabric range called “A House in the Country” collection to include a divine and exquisite print called Laura and my favourite colourway is Buttercup.  The new Summer Plaid I describe as Fresh and light with a traditional edge. Just gorgeous!

The mix of pattern on pattern brings great delight and a cosy feel to a home and is very much on trend with the current maximalist movement at the moment.  Stripes and checks also feature in Sarah’s wonderful collection and add a grounding contrast to the printed patterns.  They can be used together to create the pattern on pattern look or as a key stand out feature to add a more graphic touch to a space.

I am excited to do my own home revamp this year and have selected to use the “Alice” in Nearly Navy for our spare room curtains.  The colours flow nicely with the current Charles Parsons Long Island in the Master bedroom and it’s all about the flow of the home when mixing wonderful patterns and design! And let’s not forget my favourite “Laura” in Buttercup which I will be using for lampshades in the master bedroom to add some colour and pizzaz.

Let me help you choose the perfect fabulous fabric for your home!
