I feel in love with Interiors and Design after moving to London and my “wow” moment was attending a fabulous exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum on John Fowler and his intricate and sublime interiors work in 2006!
I grew up in Inverell, Northern NSW, where my family moved home rather frequently, I enjoyed arranging and re-arranging my bedroom – I fondly remember our first home in town where I chose purple floral wallpaper! I also helped my Mum choose the fabrics for the Kitchen and Living room. It transpires that my grandmother was a seamstress in the UK, which I was surprised to discover but explains my love of fabrics and design!
Moving to London and travelling around Europe, I was memorised and I was constantly inspired by the fabulously detailed interiors. Particularly, the use of soft furnishings that adds the finishing touches to create a unique home and an oasis from our busy daily lives. I started my Interiors career at the fantastical Colefax and Fowler retail showroom on Fulham Road where I learnt about the composition of the fabrics and their uses, to enhance a space. The importance of using the correct fabric for the correct item but also learning to be brave and covering an occasional chair in a silk embroidery, purely for love of the fabric and decorative purposes. The other thing I learnt is that design is always changing so it is important to ask the right questions to ascertain your style and quality lasts a life time! I transferred to Chelsea Harbour Trade showroom and worked in several other furniture and fabric showrooms where I further developed my skills in Interior Design. This practical experience as well as my studies at Chelsea College of Arts has enabled me use my creative flair to bring your home from drab to FAB with wonderful window treatments.
Luckily I returned back to Australia in November 2019 and have found a beautiful home on the wonderful central coast. I look forward to bringing my passion and knowledge for window treatments and design to Coasties and I can’t wait to help you create your dream home sanctuary!
